Millions displaced in Kogi state as River Niger overflows its bank


About two million people have been affected by flood in Kogi State as River Niger continues to overflow its bank.
Nine local government areas of the state with close to 350 communities had been destroyed by the ravaging flood. Victims of the disaster are currently at three relief centers, St. Luke Primary School, Adankolo, Lokoja, being one of them.
The North-Central coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mr Ishaya Isah, said the flood victims in the three relief centres in the state capital had consumed close to 300 bags of rice and other relief materials, he called on corporate bodies and individuals to come to the aid of the victims.
Senator Adeyemi, who came to the state capital from Banda by canoe donated N1 million to the centres.
